- Our Members
Of course, a toy library is nothing without its members! Our members range from mums, dads,
grandmas, granddads and other family members to childminders and nurture groups.
Our toys are suitable for children aged 0 - 11 years old.
No need to worry about children growing out of toys
Our members borrow toys for countless reasons:
- To help children develop new skills without the expense of buying new toys
- To try out toys before buying
- For a visiting child
- To provide an opportunity to play with larger than average toys
- For birthday parties
- and so on...
- Our Volunteers
Matlock Toy Library could not run without the help of our friendly and efficient volunteers.
They make sure that the Stay and Play sessions are welcoming, run smoothly and that all toys are kept
in tiptop condition. All volunteers are vetted and undergo a police check (CRB).
We are always on the look out for more volunteers - if you are interested in supporting us by helping at
the sessions, fundraising, giving administrative support or by offering other skills that might benefit
the toy library, please contact us.
'Cup of tea, anyone?'
Sharon prepares all the children's snacks and refreshments,
makes sure that carers get a hot drink, washes pots and tidies the room.
All in all, she is a vital part of the team.
'Another toy booked back in...'
Diane is a very keen and dedicated volunteer. She helps with
finding toys, ensures that the computer system is kept in order
and generally acts as a troubleshooter!
'Cleaned and ready for another child'
Veronica can usually be found helping out at the messy table
and playing with our young members - she is always popular with the
children. She arrives bright and early at the library and is invaluable
in setting up the Stay and Play sessions.
- The Committee Members
The Matlock Toy Library is overseen by the following group of Committee Members.
As mums themselves, they are committed to providing a service that meets the needs of
all carers. The committee make all the decisions on the running of the library,
including applications for funding, improvements to the service and the purchase of new toys.
They aim to include all members in decisions and welcome them at meetings. The Committee
Members are as follows:
Sarah Woolf Chair
Julie Hunt Treasurer
Debbie Neath Secretary

Louise James Member

- The Toy Library Co-ordinator
Sarah Walker Matlock Toy Library employs a part-time co-ordinator to plan
and oversee the day-to-day running of the sessions, run Together Time, manage paperwork, maintenance
of toys and communication between its members, its partners and the Committee. Our new co-ordinator,
Sarah, has been working as co-ordinator since February 2009.
