- Stay and Play - Overview
A stay and play session is just like a normal baby and toddler group, except you get to take away a toy at the end as well!
You can drop in during opening times to enjoy a hot drink and a chat with other carers while your child plays with a selection of toys from the library.
Toys at the Stay and Play are changed each week, so you get to try out a variety of toys at the sessions before you borrow.
We run Stay and Play sessions every term-time Friday between 10:00am and 12noon.
Your first
session is totally free, and the normal price per session is only £1.50. Become a member!
- Together Time
Together Time is at 10:30am (ish!) and is a chance for members to take part in a group activity.
This includes all sorts of fun activities such as songs, stories, puppet shows, parachute games and 'Fun with Lycra'!
Sometimes we have special guests to lead the session too.
- Snack Time
All children are given a healthy snack and a drink at about 11:00am.
- Messy Table
Help your child create the next work of art and leave the mess for someone else to tidy up!
At each Stay and Play session there is a different craft activity. These can include:
- Painting
- Sticking
- Making a mask or puppet
- Potato printing
- Making a collage
- Playdough
- Decorating biscuits
- Etc...
The activities and Together Time usually follow a theme.
- Puzzle Table
Try your hand at a selection of our many good quality puzzles, jigsaws and games.
- Time to go Home
Throughout the Stay and Play session you can browse through our catalogues and
choose a toy or two to take away with you.
The cost of a Stay and Play session includes the hire of one toy for a week and any additional
toy hire will cost either 50p or £1 per week.
Simply request the toy with a code from the catalogue and a friendly volunteer
will get it for you before you leave. You can borrow the toy for as long as
you wish - the extra hire charges can be paid when you return it to the Library.

You don't have to stay for the session to borrow a toy; visit during opening hours, choose
a toy from our catalogue, pay the fee (either 50p or £1 per toy) and our volunteers
will get the toy for you while you wait.
